Exterior Home Changes and Landscape Modifications
Our amazing views are a major benefit of living in Camelback Canyon Estates. We also take pride in the beauty of our homes. Before making improvements, fully familiarize yourself with the policies displayed on the Governance -> Policies and Forms page of this website relating to architectural design, construction, and landscaping.
If you are making changes to your property, you are responsible for following these policies. Please read them before beginning any project to make the process as easy and smooth as possible. For your benefit, this page provides a quick summary of key elements.
Exterior Home Changes
You must submit an Architectural Review Form to our property manager if you are planning to make changes to a home, a perimeter wall or a structure that is (or will be) visible from the street in our community. The property manager will forward your request through the Architectural Review Committee to the HOA board for approval prior to the start of construction. As required by our neighborhood CC&Rs, all demolitions, renovations, hardscape changes, paint color changes, and / or wall alterations require HOA board approval. Please review the Policies and Forms page on this website to assure that you know and understand all policies that affect architectural change approvals and the subsequent construction process.
While we appreciate and support homeowner’s desire to improve their properties, the board strives to preserve each homeowner’s scenic views whenever possible. We are sensitive to changes that may impair scenic views, particularly changes in structure height.

Landscape Modifications
Plants and Trees
Trees and foliage on your property are your responsibility. You do not need approval to make landscaping changes on your lot. If a common area tree is overhanging into your yard, you are welcome to trim the portion that is overhanging your wall.
Trees in common areas behind your lot’s perimeter wall belong to the community. Do not trim or cut them down without prior written approval from the board.
Trees in the common areas are on a scheduled landscaping maintenance rotation that fits within the HOA budget. If you would like to see maintenance expedited, please contact the property manager.
If you would like to supplement the landscape services provided by the HOA, please read the Supplemental Plant Trimming Policy. If you would like to provide additional trimming to the common area at your expense, you must first request permission using the Supplemental Plant Trimming Request Form.
Landscape “Hardscape”
Hardscape changes (i.e., pony walls, sidewalks, etc.) to your landscaping fall under the architecture policies and are subject to approval. This only applies to hardscape that is visible to the community.
